About a week ago, Joe asked if he could order some paints and canvasses online. I thought it was a little strange, since he'd never really expressed an interest in art before. He's more of a space and science sort of kid. But of course I said he could order what he wanted. I rarely say no to something that will enrich his life or cause him to learn and think. Sometimes I can't afford ALL the books he would like to buy, but we've found a thrift store nearby that has TONS of books, and all are under $5.00. :)
I'm proud to show you his first two paintings. That kid never ceases to amaze me. He texted me his first one while I was at work yesterday:

I'm really proud of him. He's definitely emerging from his shell, trying new things, and learning to dare...
