So the last couple days after work I've been attacking the clutter in my house, and Joe and I did a walk through of his room, deciding what to keep, sell, give to charity or toss to the curb. I feel like we're making very slow progress, but any progress is better than no progress.
I'm looking forward to going to James's house this weekend, but not looking forward to the 4 1/2 hour drive there and back. Lol. I'm thinking about asking for Monday off because James has a three day weekend.
Things are good. Really good. Everything is coming together for the new business. James is going to help me fill out the paperwork to fix the name this weekend. We're planning on checking out some estate sales, and I've spent time researching the various types of collectibles we want to focus on. The trick is finding a good deal, and I've found that if I search more vague descriptions on eBay, like instead of searching for "Thomas Moran painting, " if I search for "early western painters or paintings," the gems are more likely to pop up. Someone listing an "ORIGINAL THOMAS MORAN" in all caps likely knows what they're selling, and the price may not be that great a deal.
We have a few Fenn items, and a couple of items from the Buffalo Bill Gallery from when FF was a more active member. We have stumbled on what FF really meant when he said "Sosoko is here," in TFTW. Very interesting to say the least!
We also have some things that will sell well in the Florida market, like an original Highwayman painting that I like so much I want to keep, but I got it for such a good deal that I could make a nice profit on it. James wants to buy a few Chuhily glass things to sell down here, because the name is big in Seattle, and the glasswork is so original and beautiful that Florida buyers would probably gobble them up.
I didn't realize the glasswork at the Bellagio in Las Vegas was a Chuhily creation.
So, we're gaining some inventory, and hopefully will have a web gallery soon...
Today, I've gotta pull double duty at work since my boss is taking the day off, but I'm ready!
