Back to the Fun

Okay, so I'm gonna take some advice from the comments and return to posting about things that interest me. After all, with stuff in the works, a good soldier doesn't want the enemy knowing when or where stuff will go down, right? ;)

So, let's catch up on all the awesomeness in my life and talk about interesting stuff!

One funny blast from the past happened yesterday when my older brother posted this on Facebook:

He had these little electronic games hidden in his room so me and my little brother couldn't touch them. However, I was a pretty sneaky kid, and when my brother wasn't home, I'd head straight to the hiding place of the football game, take it out, play it for a while, then put it back in the exact same position I found it in. So, yesterday, I confessed. Lol.

I think I mentioned that I had an awesome first week at my new job. I'm picking up the system well, and was pleased to hear the guy who was training me tell the director on the phone that I was doing great, and he said something like, "Dude, I only have to show her once, and she knows it...yeah, even reports. I've been sitting in the back shooting the bull and practicing my golf swing and she's done rocked it alone all day." Lol... so hearing that made me feel that much better as I drove home under a sun filled sky.

Yesterday, James worked on the front yard. He's putting in an awesome water feature in the front plant bed. I think it's going to look great when he's done!

We also set up the dart board yesterday. James unfortunately was called into work today, so we won't get to try out the dart board until tonight.

Okay, someone asked something about a poem. I thought about it, and decided to show a poem I wrote when I was ten. Someone had doubted that I could write such "eloquent" poetry at that age, but I found the original, which isn't "exactly" as the poem I had sent someone in an email. Apparently, in transcribing it from book to book over the years, I had changed it a little. However, it remains basically the same as the original ten year old version.

Here is the poem:

Here is the other side of the paper with the date:

And here is a page from a notebook of the poem as it remains today:

The only amazing thing I can see from those pics is that I apparently used to like cats. Lol.

Modernistic was the name of the hair salon my mom bought. She later changed the name. But I used to sometimes have to hang out there while she worked, and I guess I passed the time writing poems and drawing cats.

Every kid is good at something. I liked poetry since I was very young, so I don't find it hard to believe that I found my niche early in life.

As the years passed, I would transcribe them several times, from little journals like the one below, or even scraps of paper and ruled notebooks into sheet-protected notebooks like the one above. In the one above, I didn't include the date they were written, but I usually did in the originals.

Anyway, here are some more pages from the same notebook as the poem I wrote when I was ten years old. These poems span many years, and you can see varying levels of angst (teenage years) to more reflective ones (early college and beyond).

Hope you enjoy one or two...

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Sunday!
